Alarm Clock Time!

Set your alarm clocks early this week and take note of these important dates:

1st and 2nd Grades

  • Grades 1 and 2 will start on Wednesday, August 15.
  • The M.E. Office opens at 9am on Monday, August 6 for any new enrollments, notifying us of a change of address or phone number, or any other communications. (If you know someone moved to Bethel, please encourage them to enroll as soon as possible.)
  • 1st and 2nd grade placement lists for those students already enrolled at M.E. will be posted inside M.E. School at the Front Office by August 13.

Kindergarten

  • Kindergarten classes start on Friday, August 17.
  • New Kindergarteners will be screened August 14 and 15 at M.E. School by Kindergarten teachers.
    • Expect to be contacted between August 6th and 10th to make an appointment for screening.
    • Screening makes it possible to create balanced class lists as described in the Bethel Advisory School Board Placement Policy from 2008. All homeroom classes should have roughly equal numbers of boys and girls, cultural, racial, and linguistic diversity, academic proficiency, special needs and behavioral issues, as well as older or younger students.
  • Kindergarten class lists will be ready by the afternoon of August 16.

All Grades:

  • Meet Your Teacher, our open house, will be on August 16 from 5-6:30pm.
  • M.E. Important Times of Day:

8:00 a.m.

Breakfast is available in the Gym. PLEASE NOTE: Children should not be dropped off at M.E. School before 7:45am because there is no one available to supervise them and weather conditions outside are often severe.

8:25 a.m.

Children go to their classrooms and get ready for class.

8:30 a.m.

2:00 p.m.

SCHOOL DAY BEGINS: Children who arrive after 8:35 are marked tardy and miss some of their learning activities.

Please call the Front Office before 2pm if your child’s method of going home changes for the day.

3:00 p.m.

DISMISSAL TIME: Buses leave as soon as possible. Walkers are escorted across the street. "Picker-uppers" wait in the gym to be signed out by an adult. If your child is to be picked up, please do so by 3:10pm because school staff members have responsibilities to attend to after students have left.
