Dear M.E. Parents/Guardians:

Family safety and well-being is the highest priority during the COVID-19 pandemic period. Student education is considered essential, however it is not more important than the health, safety, and well-being of children and families during this pandemic.

We combined 3-4 weeks of materials into our third set of learning review materials. This is meant to reduce the number of times we have to exchange materials. Make sure to adjust the time you spend working with any of the learning review materials or activities to fit what works for your family the best you can. Try not to do too much school work each day. If you need any kind of support, call/email/text your child’s teacher, call our tutoring line (543-2845, extension 3625, 8am-4pm), or call M.E. School. We will always do our best to help. This week, April 6-10, Rose Nicholai will be our tutor at extension 3625.

o   If you have received your third set of learning review materials, you can wait until April 20, 2020 to go to Monday work distribution bus stops unless you have work you wish to return. If you aren’t sure you have received your materials, call M.E. School (543-2845) to find out if we still have them there for your child. Be sure to leave a voicemail if we don’t answer right away so we can get back to you as soon as possible. You can stop by M.E. School weekdays between 10am and 2pm if you would like to pick up additional materials.

Return completed materials if and when you can. Returns may be dropped in ME Return boxes at specific bus stops during each Monday Work Distribution period, or in ME RETURN boxes in the ME School gym between 10am and 2pm on weekdays. Unless your teacher plans something special or digital, there is no rush on any returns. Please keep the general supplies (crayons, glue sticks, pencils/sharpeners, etc.) if you return the papers.

Assist your child to be in verbal contact with her/his teacher at least once a week. We hope for more verbal contact time than that, either by phone or online communication tools, but that is the basic minimum we need to keep in touch.

If parents/guardians are interested and willing to take on the responsibility of LKSD user agreements, we can arrange to check out a child’s iPad to a parent/guardian for the period students are not allowed to attend school in person. Please contact your teacher to arrange for this option.

o  In order to get started, a parent/guardian has to review the three required documents and agree to the terms, then we can prepare an iPad and let the parent/guardian know when it will be ready for checkout. Your child’s teacher can review the agreements over the phone or send them to you via email; the agreements have to be signed before we can release the device to anyone. When your child's iPad is ready, we will invite you to pick it up (and sign the agreements) at ME School between 10am and 2pm on a weekday.
